Food For Life Midrand kicks off Human Rights month by distributing 1500 meals

To make the occasion even more special, the Connect-to-Give Foundation distributed stationary packs to children in need.

On March 5 Food For Life fed 1 500 children from Tumelo Homes, New Jerusalem Children’s Home, Ivory Park and Rabie Ridge.

The organisation, based in Midrand held the event to kick off Human Rights month.

Human Rights Day is commemorated annually on March 21 to honours the Sharpville massacre while celebrating South Africa’s unique constitution.

Food for Life Midrand is affiliated with Food For Life Global, which is the world’s largest vegan or vegetarian food relief programme and serves over a million cooked meals a year.

This food was made especially for the children and with the assistance of the Connect-to-Give Foundation, stationery packs were also given to the children.

Chairperson of Food For Life Midrand, Vinesh Maharaj, said the organisation’s mission is to create a hunger-free nation.
