Four suspects arrested in Rabie Ridge

Four suspects were apprehended for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, hijacked motor vehicles and a motorcycle in Rabie Ridge.

The JMPD K9 Unit made a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime by arresting four male suspects aged between 20 and 29 on November 6.

The suspects were apprehended for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, hijacked motor vehicles and a motorcycle in Rabie Ridge.

A white Kia Rio which was hijacked was recovered.

The JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla said officers followed up on information regarding suspects who were terrorising the Midrand area with hijackings, and house and armed robberies.
Upon receiving the tip-off, the officers proceeded to the suspects’ hideout. Upon arrival, they found four men and upon searching them, an unlicensed firearm was found in their possession.

“Further investigations led to the discovery of several hijacked vehicles on the premises including a white Kia Rio which was stolen in the Midrand area, a blue Toyota Corolla which was stolen in Rabie Ridge, a black Opel Corsa with tampered identity, and a Suzuki motorcycle which was stolen in Sebenza,” Fihla said.

A blue Toyota Corolla which was hijacked was recovered.

“The suspects were arrested and detained at Rabie Ridge police station. Upon arrival, they were identified by detectives as the individuals they were looking for regarding a spate of robberies and hijackings in the area.”

Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni police district said, “The suspects are detained at the Tembisa Police Station as Rabie Ridge does not have cells.”

This successful operation by the JMPD K9 Unit is a clear indication that the authorities will not tolerate criminal activities in the region, and that they are committed to making the city a safer place for all residents.
