8-year-old child killed in shooting incident on R101 and Le Roux, Midrand

Three occupants were in the car, two of which were young children, when the shooting occurred in Midrand.

A primary school learner has been killed in a tragic shooting incident on the R101 and Le Roux Avenue.

A Midrand Reporter journalist at the scene on August 16 at approximately 17:00 says authorities have cornered off the scene.

According Midrand Police Station’s Colonel Andre de Klerk, the boy was about eight years old.

De Klerk said the incident happened just before 15:00.

He said the boy was in the car with his mother and a young girl. The mother was shot multiple times and has been taken to the nearest hospital. The young girl was unharmed.

“We have found about five bullets [at the scene]. The mother is in her late 30s. That’s all that [the information we] have at the moment.”
