Two roadblocks in Noordwyk see over 50 cars searched

Sector 3 Crime Forum co-ordinator said they stopped and searched about 30 cars in the first road block and a further 20 in the second one.

Midrand Sector 3 Crime Forum held a planned patrol and vehicle checkpoint (VCP) on September 4.

The sector’s patrol co-ordinator Otto Ramokoka said the team assembled at Shell Garage in Noordwyk.

“After the briefing, we started by patrolling hotspots and stopping any suspicious vehicles so that they could be searched,” he said.

The two VCP’s targeted Garden Road, and the the corner of Garden and Plantation roads where they stopped about 30 vehicles. Then proceeded to a nearby T-junction where a further 20 were searched.

He said it was a quiet and calm night with no incidents reported.

“Our biggest appreciation to SAPS members, Passion Security Services, and our patrollers. We are still in need of more community members to come forward and join the patrollers to make our sector safe. Stay alive, stay alert,” concluded Ramokoka in a statement.

In an article, Everything’s cool in Sector’s hotspots, [Week ending August 16] Ramokoka said they targeted 14th, 8th, and 9th roads and suburbs, including Crowthorne, Blue Hills, and Country View.
