The New Jerusalem Children’s Home has built an additional two classrooms up to roof level in a bid to ensure that their children do not need to leave the home to access nearby schools.
However, due to financial constraints, the home is currently unable to complete the classroom project.
Home manager Hopkins Kaira said they built the two classrooms with funds from another donor.

He said he believes the classrooms will benefit both the Lanto Montessori International School and Orange Babies Montessori Pre-School for the 2025 academic year.
The President Park based orphanage houses 120 children and also offers education to children from within the community.

“We appeal and ask anyone, business people or local hardware stores, who can provide us with roofing materials to help us finish our project. The donations do not have to be in the form of money, even if we can get the people in the building sector to come here, do the measurements of what will be required, and provide us with those, so that we can complete our project,” said Kaira.
Currently, the home can only accommodate learners until Grade 10, and the two extra classrooms will serve as additional space for Grade 11 and 12 learners.
Kaira said they hope to open the classrooms next year so that no children will have to leave the home.
“With three months to go to 2025 we are racing against time to have the classrooms finished and furnished so that we do not delay the process of teaching for the learners,” concluded Kaira.
