Second instalment of cleanup Midrand targets Tamboti Road, towards R55

Co-founder of the initiative Lebogang Shovhote said next clean up will take place on September 14 and will focus on Liebenberg Road in Nooordwyk.

In a bid to ensure that Ward 112 remains clean, residents held their second cleanup initiative on a cold Saturday morning, August 31.

This time, residents targeted Tamboti Road going towards the R55. Previously, on August 9, the group cleaned Tamboti Road towards Carlswald.
Although the attendance was not the same as the first one, those present picked up litter and loaded it into a van before going to dispose of it.

Co-founder of the initiative Lebogang Shovhote said they had focused on Tamboti Road going towards the R55 since they identified that area needs serious cleaning.
“We are really grateful that people came, since it was a cold Saturday morning, and if no one came we wouldn’t have taken it personally! It was a productive day. We aim to do this fortnightly, or third week, to remain consistent and to make it a lifestyle,” said Shovhote.

She said the next clean up will take place on September 14 and will focus on Liebenberg Road in Nooordwyk. More details will be communicated.
Shovote said they encourage community members to take part in the initiative or to regularly clean up in their areas. “We are challenging schools, churches, companies, and other institutions to take part in such initiatives to ensure that we have a clean, litter free environment. We are requesting for donations of gloves and black refuse bags. The biggest donation would be your presence for that one or two hours of your precious time,” added Shovhote.
