“How it works is that learners have to demonstrate their skills in running a business. They are organized into groups and go buy their own stock, make an accounting of what they need, and determine the price. This helps them to enhance their entrepreneurial skills such as drawing up a budget and how to manage the business,” said Sabau.

In the end, the learners will check to see whether they have made a profit or loss in the process. Sabau said the final marks of this assignment will then go into the final marks the learners get at the end of the term.

“There are two things when it comes to learning particular concepts – the theory and application side of things. They have learnt theory in class and now they are putting this through demonstration and practice. This helps them to put into practice what they have learnt in class,” added Sabau.

He said the assignment serves to fulfil academic requirements and assist learners develop entrepreneurial skills through integration from the school.
