FootGolf SA host a successful Her Majesty Women’s FootGolf Tournament

As the confetti settled from the vibrant celebrations of Women’s Day, FootGolf South Africa (FGSA) took to the greens with a heartwarming event that inspired spectators.

The Her Majesty Women’s Tournament held on August 10 at the Urbanlife Church FootGolf Course in Midrand, honoured women’s sports achievements.

The tournament attracted a remarkable turnout, showcasing the incredible talent and diversity of women in FootGolf.

Through the pitch-and-play option, a diverse and incredible group of women showed up to participate and support others while the gents encouraged them and even served them treats as part of the day’s festivities.

Norman Mphake, the president of FootGolf SA, eloquently articulated the day’s significance, emphasising the strength, resilience, and determination of women in FootGolf.
“They are our trailblazers, the game-changers, they are the ones who inspire us as the federation to kick further and higher,” he said.

The competition saw fierce dedication, particularly from the women representing the North West province.

The tournament culminated in thrilling victories, with Boitumelo Maleke from Brits clinching the top spot in the women’s category. Khutsafalo Tawana from Rustenburg dominated the Senior Women’s category after a gruelling 18-hole showdown.

Mphake congratulated all the participants for their outstanding performances but a special mention went to Buhle Zwane, a junior player who exemplifies FGSA’s commitment to nurturing young talent.

This spotlight on emerging athletes reflects FGSA’s vision for a sustainable future for women in FootGolf.

Mphake reiterated FGSA’s dedication to celebrating the accomplishments of women in FootGolf, reinforcing the belief that a more equitable sporting environment benefits everyone involved.

“To all our female FootGolf players (FootGolfHers), leaders, flagship bearers, and enthusiasts, we celebrate you. Your passion, skill, and dedication to the game are what drive us forward. Together, we can break barriers and create a more inclusive and vibrant FootGolf community. Happy Women’s Month, and let’s keep kicking,” he concluded.
