Watch: Midrand police arrest suspect after attempted assassination of taxi bosses
A shooting took place in Midrand and it included the taxi bosses and police.
One suspect has been arrested and a manhunt is currently in progress for others linked to the attempted assassination of two taxi bosses. This occurred at the intersection of Olifantsfontein and Lever roads.
The incident took place on Tuesday, August 20, at approximately 15:30, after the taxi owners had left a meeting and were being escorted by security officers. Suspects driving a Toyota Hilux bakkie opened fire on the two vehicles carrying the taxi owners, leading to a shootout between the suspects and the escorting security officers.

As a result, two of the taxi owners, along with two bystanders, a street vendor and a female motorist, sustained injuries as a result of the gunfire and were taken to the nearest medical care centre for treatment. The perpetrators drove away, leaving a third suspect behind, who was found with an AK-47 magazine, and was subsequently arrested by authorities not far from the scene of the shooting.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the additional suspects to come forward. Investigations are ongoing, and the police are committed to bringing all parties involved to justice.
