Local ‘Mayor of Midrand’ to use his birthday celebration to give back
Lebogang Chiloane invites locals to his 32nd birthday fundraiser.
Lebogang Charles Chiloane, affectionately known as the ‘Mayor of Midrand’, is a celebrated figure in his community, widely recognised for his numerous initiatives aimed at uplifting and supporting local residents.
One of his prominent accomplishments includes the founding of Run Midrand Entertainment, a platform that promotes community events and entertainment.
Additionally, he has launched a clothing line called Run Midrand which serves as both a branding effort and a means of fostering community spirit through fashion and lifestyle.
As a dedicated advocate for the growth and prosperity of the Midrand community, Chiloane is preparing to commemorate his 32nd birthday on August 31 in a particularly meaningful way this year.
Although his birthday is actually on August 24 he has decided to shift it to the 31st this year, and transform it into a fundraiser which will directly benefit local charities, thereby making it a special occasion not just for himself but also for the community he holds dear.
“We want to show that as much as we embody the spirit of Run Midrand, and as I take on the role of the ‘Mayor of Midrand’, I am committed to leading by example,” he explained.

“It is essential for me to demonstrate love and compassion, while also honoring the memory of my late business partner, who had an immense love for children. Whether we are purchasing food to give back to those in need or volunteering our time to have lunch with them, our goal is to make a positive impact.”
Chiloane’s desire to give back stems from the inspiration he drew from his late business partner, Billy Pilla, who was passionate about supporting children and ensuring they felt loved and cared for.
By continuing his partner’s legacy, he aims to uphold the values they both cherished during their time working together.
“Since we launched this company, my late friend Billy Pilla and I have dedicated ourselves to collecting donations and providing support for the homeless community. Following his passing, I felt a profound sense of loss not only of my friend but also of the mission we had forged together,” he added.
Chiloane shared that after garnering support from the fundraiser, as well as contributing from their own pockets, he and his team will visit shelters and care centres in and around Midrand.
This initiative will serve as a pilot fundraiser, with hopes of paving the way for many more to come. Chiloane envisions hosting this birthday fundraiser annually, and he aspires to attract more sponsors and contributors who are eager to give back to the community.
As for the logistics, the venue for the event has yet to be determined, although he has several potential locations in mind, including Sunninghill, Ebony Park, and various places in Midrand, all of which could serve as fitting backdrops for this meaningful celebration.
