Crowthorne’s EarthKids toddlers enjoy freshly baked pizza on Mandela Day

Brenda and Carla Swanepoel said they reinforced the importance of community, compassion, and giving back.

In the spirit of International Mandela Day, Doppio Zero Kyalami hosted a heartwarming event for Crowthorne’s EarthKids Baby Centre and Pre-Primary’s young learners.

This initiative was facilitated by Adri Winterbach from Kyalami Lodge, who connected EarthKids with the Kyalami Corner-based restaurant, leading to the young ones enjoying freshly baked pizza, and later, some ice cream.

Brenda and Carla Swanepoel, Doppio Zero owners, said they have previously been providing baked goods to Earthkids on a regular basis.

“To celebrate Mandela Day, Kyalami Lodge transported around 20 toddlers to the restaurant. The children enjoyed a delightful treat of pizza, juice, and ice cream, making the day special and memorable for everyone involved. The event also included a fun activity where the children coloured pictures of Madiba, adding a touch of creativity and joy to the celebration,” said the business women.

They said EarthKids is more than just a school – it is an environment that aims to nurture the whole child – emotionally, academically, socially, and psychologically.

Yvtte Page, EarthKids principal, said their innovative curriculum is recognized by all schools, ensuring a high standard of education.
“Earthkids provides a serene and nature-filled setting for children to grow and learn. We are a Christian-based organization and one of our unique aspects is our commitment to nature and animal care.”

She said they incorporate therapy dogs into their weekly routine, allowing children to interact with animals, which provides therapeutic benefits, and enhances their emotional well-being.

Page concluded, “Earthkids truly embodies a home away from home, focusing on the individual needs of each child.”

The Swanepoel’s share a deep passion for children, and strive to maintain a family, and dog-friendly, atmosphere at their establishment.
“We consider ourselves fortunate to have an establishment that allows us to give back to our community,” they said.

This event not only brought smiles to the children’s faces but also reinforced the importance of community, compassion, and giving back.
