Given Hlongwani celebrates a decade at Said’s maintenance department

The Society for Animal in Distress Facebook page wished Given Hlongwani well on July 15, when he celebrated a decade at the animal welfare.

When Given Hlongwani walked through the farm gates of the Society for Animals in Distress (Said) in Vorna Valley, little did he know he would celebrate a decade working at the organisation.

Hlongwani joined the animal welfare organisation’s maintenance department in 2014 and on July 15, it was his 10th year working there.

“I enjoy coming to work in the maintenance department,” he said. “I enjoy working here because I am passionate about keeping the farm clean and well looked after. I wish to grow here and I would like to see the society grow in leaps and bounds.”

Hlongwani said his colleagues had treated him well and would like to continue working there until he retires.

“It’s been an unbelievable journey and time flew by. I remember my first day here at the farm and I was excited to start a job. I was previously working in security and odd jobs until God blessed me with this job. And to this day, I remain grateful and humble.”

On Said’s Facebook page, Hlongwani was wished well on his journey and said they celebrated a decade of dedication and excellence from him.

“For 10 years, Given has been instrumental in our facility upkeep, ensuring our promises are safe, efficient and a wonderful home for our resident animals. His commitment to maintaining top-notch facilities has been nothing short of exceptional. Thank you for your unwavering passion and hard work. Here’s to many more years of success together,” read the post.
