Vossies FC gears up for the challenging regional league

Voissies co-coaches Mike Ramalobela and Thoriso Mooa shared the same sentiments that the team fought hard in the the league, and they are ready to take those lessons to the regional stage.

After clinching the 2023/2024 season of the Midrand Local Football Association (MLFA), Vossies FC co-coaches say they are deep into making the necessary plans for the next hurdle.

This is as they prepare for the SAFA Johannesburg Hollywoodbets Regional League, which is fiercely competitive.

Vossies, also known as Eduvos, took the MLFA by storm in their first season and won an impressive 31 games out of 32 – losing in the last game of the league to Hawks FC.

Mike Ramalobela said the team fought so hard for the league, and they are ready to take those lessons to the regional stage.

He said the season was difficult in terms of building the team to get the desired results. “I have to give credit to the players, who put in the work and sacrificed their time to attend training sessions and games. Once we assembled the team, the players gelled, and we managed to get the results we did. Now, the honours are on us coaches to mentally and physically [prepare] the players for the next stage,” said Ramalobela.

Thoriso Mooa said the journey in the MLFA was not easy, and now they anticipate an even a harder and thornier one, as they move on to an even more competitive game.

Mooa added that he hopes the boys will take every lesson with them to the next chapter. “I just wish they could take this opportunity, and let it be a stepping stone to the next chapter. It was not an easy journey, but if they take all the positives, then we better compete in the regional league, because it will be more of a continuity than starting from scratch. I think the current crop of players we have are very talented, and they are quality.”
He said he was adamant that if they, the players and the coaches, put in the same efforts, then they will have a higher chance of retaining their status.

Free-scoring Vossies go into the regional league oozing high on confidence after scoring 140 goals, and only conceding 22.
They will follow the likes of Indlovu FC, Risannah FC, and Neasm Academy who have won the MLFA in the last three years, and retained their status.
