After a spectacular, and successful, debut last year, the finals for this year’s competition are set to take place on August 3 at the lively Rabie Ridge Community Hall.

With a steadfast commitment to not only empowering local youth but also promoting modeling as an enriching and positive outlet for self-expression, the pageant promises to be an outstanding occasion filled with inspiration, remarkable talent, and a strong sense of community spirit.

Founded in 2022 by the passionate local model Sanele Khuzwayo, the Miss Rovers pageant has quickly established itself as a beacon of hope and empowerment for young women within the community, shining a light on their underutilised potential.

Khuzwayo embarked on this ambitious journey with a heartfelt desire to give back to her community. “My vision goes beyond mere aesthetics, it is about truly nurturing a new generation of confident and empowered young women,” she expressed.

“I want to give back to the community, as an experienced model, and help keep young people away from the clutches of substance abuse, such as drugs, alcohol, and many other negative influences.”

As the contestants prepare to strut their stuff with enthusiasm and grace, it is clear they are not solely aiming for the esteemed crown, they also seek the chance to inspire others in their community and beyond, spreading messages of confidence and hope.

“Looking back, the journey to this year’s pageant has truly been remarkable. The inaugural edition featured just seven models, and only had a single sponsor.

“In stark contrast, this year the pageant has seen impressive growth in participation, as it has doubled the number of contestants, and [has] attracted eight enthusiastic sponsors, including notable names like Bellatools, Driphub, and Maliza Fashion Design, among others.”

Khuzwayo’s aspirations extend far beyond the current contestants. Her mission is to cultivate a rich network of models who can, in turn, inspire, guide, and mentor future generations to pursue their own dreams and aspirations.

“I want to be known for the good work that I have accomplished in my community, for making a real difference, and for empowering others to find their own paths to success.”

Locals can get tickets from R60 to R100 from Sanele Khuzwayo at 068 032 7834.
