Coach heaps praise on aligned ambitions after Midrand LFA triumph

With one last game to play, Vossies coach hopes to finish their first Midrand Local Football Association season unbeaten to set The Invincibles record.

Vossies FC, also known as Eduvos, have taken the Midrand Local Football Association (MLFA) by storm in their maiden season.

The team will officially be crowned MLFA champions on Sunday, July 14, following their impressive display – one game shy of registering a 100% winning feat.

After 31 games, which they have all won, Eduvos have an outstanding 140 goals under their belts, only conceding 21. Some of their goals came from prolific forwards such as Eddy Ndjeka, who scored 37 goals, Kabelo Magale, who scored 36, and Olwam Ndabana, who scored 34.

Their coach, Harold Mampho, said, he attributes their success to the team’s holistic aligned ambitions.

“We had a clear vision and purpose for this season, and everyone in the club pulled in the same direction in achieving the vision. It was not about achieving promotion in the first season, but growing as individuals and as a collective. So our expectations were of continuous growth and development led to us achieving what we did,” said Mampho.

Eduvos will lock horns with Hawks FC on July 14 to finish the season as ‘The Invincibles’.

Mampho said, losing some of their key players, to either injury or leaving the club halfway through the season, disrupted their rhythm.

However, the mental strength of the boys, fuelled by their hunger and determination to achieve more, helped the team overcome these challenges.

“To be honest we were not focused on the results. Our main focus was on ourselves and doing better than our previous performances. [The players] just enjoy the moment with a forward-looking mentality; we are nowhere near our true potential, and the only way we can get closer to it, is if we remain hungry for more. Our entire sporting fraternity is proud of them and their achievements,” he added.

Mampho said, finishing the season unbeaten would be special for the group and they are looking to, ‘go into that game with a similar approach we have had all season’.
