From designing a modern CV to developing effective job search strategies, the workshop focused on empowering graduates to stand out in their job-hunting journey.

Waterfall campus’ Higher Certificate in Business Principles and Practice alumna, Ume Onyinye Chukwu, said the workshop was tailored to support them as alumni, and was well-organised.

“I learnt how to make my LinkedIn profile best suitable for prospective employers and found the mock interview scenario very valuable. I recommend this workshop to all graduates because you get to network with people who were in your shoes once, while they offer advice on the way forward,” said Chukwu.

Three industry professionals shared invaluable insight and practical strategies with the alumni. Tumi Ndlovu, assistant branch manager at Network Recruitment, delved into the art of building a competitive CV and LinkedIn profile, while highlighting effective job search techniques.

Kam Mopai, non-executive director at Centurion Hospice, addressed the importance of personal branding and how to cultivate a unique professional identity.

Liona Mathiase, talent acquisition specialist at Old Mutual South Africa, conducted a mock interview session as part of her presentation.

Mathiase asked the interview questions and the alumni could raise their hands to answer. This was aimed at equipping the alumni with the skills and resilience to excel in high-pressure interview scenarios.

The GEW also featured an engaging alumni panel discussion where graduates like Otsile Lefele, Thato Modise, Matilda Mbazo, and Darshen Naidoo shared their career journeys and offered valuable insights to their peers.

This panel discussion not only provided a platform for knowledge sharing, but also facilitated networking opportunities for the alumni to forge valuable connections.

From personalised career resources to insightful panel discussions, the event served as a catalyst for professional growth and development.
