The Battle of the Choirs lit up Boulders Shopping Centre with sweet melodies

Boulders shopping centre recently hosted the six finalists in the Battle of the Choirs competition, and they blew the roof off.

On June 29 the top six choirs of the Battle of the Choirs, chosen by the customers and community of the Boulders Shopping Centre, battled for the top position in an event that brought joy and unity to the community.

The finalists were: The Mighty Gospel Choir, Soul Affecters, Olivien Melodical Singers, Stadio Waterfall Choir, Alex Melodies and Inqayizivele Gospel Choir.

Inqayizivele Gospel Choir clinched the top spot and the R30 000 prize money that went with it when they were crowned the winner, while second and third spots were awarded to The Mighty Worshipers Gospel Choir and Alex Melodies, winning R15 000 and R10 000 respectively.

Hloni Modise-Matau, Wanda Baloyi, Njabulo Nenjelele and Tebogo Sedumedi with the R30 000 cheque prize.

Sandy Mabena, marketing manager of the shopping centre said that the shopping centre has always been a pillar of the Midrand community, and that it was an honour to host events that bring people together in celebration and joy.

“Community-driven events like this one are not just about entertainment; they are about fostering a sense of belonging and pride. They remind us of the incredible bond we share and the importance of supporting one another. What an incredible journey it has been, leading up to this memorable event. Today, we celebrated the talent, dedication, and unity of our community,” said Mabena.

She said over the past few weeks, the anticipation has been building, and their hearts have been warmed by the enthusiasm and support shown by the loyal shopping centre customers.

When asked about the competitors Mabena said that these choirs are a testament to the richness and diversity of our local talent.

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to our community and local talent for your unwavering loyalty and support. Your participation and enthusiasm inspire us all. It is through your engagement that we can shine a spotlight on the incredible talent that resides in our vibrant area,” said Mabena.
