Midrand police and local private security arrests two for Halfway House car break-in

The two suspects were arrested in Johannesburg and found with breaking implements and equipment.

Two suspects were arrested and detained at the Midrand Police Station after breaking into a vehicle that was parked outside a primary school in Halfway House on June 22.

They were arrested by Hawkeye Security Solutions personnel in conjunction with Trio Tactical, Nightguard Security, Alpha Treat Solution and VumaCam.

Hawkeye Security Solutions director Rajan Pillay said the two men stole several unknown items from the victim’s car and a quick response from an officer in providing the registration plates and description of the vehicle used was shared and circulated for assistance.

“Members tracking the vehicle received information that the suspects were driving around in the Sandton precinct looking to break into other vehicles. Multiple stakeholders including police, private security and Vumacam began tracking the vehicle. The vehicle was spotted on Corlett Drive where a tactical takedown was executed. Two suspects were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also recovered,” said Pillay.

He added the suspects had vehicle break-in implements and the victim’s property was also found in the vehicle and multiple licence number plates.

“The suspects were tracked and apprehended within an hour of the crime committed due to the quick response from the role players involved. The suspects have been detained at Midrand police without any injuries for further investigation.”

Brigadier Molefi David Tsotsotso confirmed the arrest of the two suspects aged 34 and 36.
“We can confirm that the two suspects were arrested in Johannesburg on June 22 and appeared before the Midrand Magistrate’s Court today [June 25] theft out of motor vehicle and possession of breaking equipment,” said Tsotsotso.
