Tournament organiser Rita Makhafola and player for MLTA local said she was happy that they kept the promise they made last year when they first started with the games.
She said the games came about after a woman affiliated with the Learner’s Transport Association suggested playing netball among the transport associations.
“This year, we planned better and are happy that we have more scholar transport associations keen to join us and enjoy the day with us. The aim is to keep fit and remain competitive on the netball court. We also want to have fun and get to explore our skills while forging relationships with other scholar associations,” said Makhafola.

Lizzy Ntshebele, another organiser who also plays for MLTA said, “Many thanks and gratitude to each member of the associations that were involved in the tournament. It was your presence that made the event come alive, thank you to family and friends for their cheering and support, much appreciated.”

Ntshebele said initially they had started netball practice in 2023 and more women had become interested.
“We started organising a netball tournament where three transport associations would compete. This year, we have grown in leaps and bounds with more associations showing interest in participating in what will be our third annual tournament next year.”
