Final preparations underway for Midrand Striders’ 8km Sunday Club Run

Midrand Striders gear up for the Kyalami Corner 8km run, celebrating all 78 of their members’ achievements in the 2024 Comrades Marathon.

In a final push towards the much-anticipated 8km Aches and Pain Sunday Club Run in Kyalami Corner, the Midrand Striders held an intensive training session on June 16.

This session served as the culmination of their preparations aimed at fine-tuning the fitness and endurance levels of their members.

Known for their commitment to creating a strong community of runners, the Midrand Striders have once again demonstrated their dedication to excellence and camaraderie.

The training session was designed to prepare the runners for the physical demands of the run.

The club run promises to be a landmark event for the Midrand Striders. This year’s run holds special significance as it celebrates the achievements of the 73 club members who participated in the 2024 Comrades Marathon.

Among these remarkable athletes are Mthokozisi Twala and Mike Esterhuysen, who both completed the gruelling Comrades up run, earning accolades and admiration from the running community.

Mthokozisi Twala’s performance in the Comrades Marathon was nothing short of stellar. His unwavering determination and disciplined training regimen paid off as he crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 08:23:46.

Mike Esterhuysen also showcased extraordinary resilience and endurance, proving once again why he is regarded as one of the club’s elite runners as he clocked in at 08:23:46.
