The Well Church keeps promise to provide warmth to the less fortunate this winter

The Well Church leader Rodney Mankolan said they were on a mission to uplift and bring change to the struggling communities in Midrand and surrounding areas.

At their first anniversary, The Well Church made a promise to New Jerusalem, Yenzani Children’s Home and Bakgethwa Orphan Centre to donate winter blankets.

The church delivered on that promise on May 24, when they donated a total of 161 winter blankets to the underprivileged children.

The outreach team, joined by congregants, distributed 119 blankets to the New Jerusalem Children’s Home.
Thereafter, they visited Ivory Park-based Bakgethwa Children’s Home where they donated 22 blankets and finished off the day in Noordwyk where they donated 20 blankets.

Church leader Rodney Mankolan said in a world where promises are made and broken so easily, the church is determined to keep the promises it made.
“Committed and passionately, the outreach team set out to warm up the hearts of all the expectant children who were about to benefit from the generosity of the church. It is evident that The Well Church is on a mission to uplift and bring change to the struggling communities in Midrand and surrounding areas,” said Mankolan.

Another church leader and a member of the outreach programme, Yakeen Chanderalall, said the church promised each children’s home that they intend to walk the road with them.

“The staff of New Jerusalem received the outreach team with such warmth and gratitude on behalf of the children. A senior official of New Jerusalem Children’s Home expressed how grateful they were to receive such donations in a time where it’s difficult to receive assistance due to the tough economic conditions in the country,” said Chanderalall.

Yenzani Children’s Home member Vanessa Hale said they were grateful for the blankets that the Well Church brought for their children.

“The house gets very cold during winter so the children are very happy to have these wonderful blankets keeping them warm and snug at night. We count ourselves so blessed to have incredible people like the Well Church who cares so much for our children and do whatever they can to help us meet their many needs,” said Hale.

She said they have developed a good relationship with them and are grateful they can turn to them in times of need and know they will be there for them.

Matankie Makgetha of Bakgethwa Orphan Centre said, “We are pleased to have received the blankets. They will go a long way in keeping our children warm this winter. The kids love the new blankets and say they are very warm.”
