Midrand-based The Well Church continues to do well

The Well Church senior pastor Sherwin Reddy said in Pretoria and Alexandra, they have donated a combined number of 250 blankets on May 31.

In a world where acts of kindness can often seem rare, Midrand-based church stands as a beacon of hope and generosity, embodying a lifestyle of giving and transforming lives within communities.

Senior Pastor of the church Sherwin Reddy shared his love for the seniors, promising that they will continue to sow seeds of hope, love, and God’s work in their home.

Reddy said with a deep-rooted commitment to serving others, this winter, they pledged to donate 2024 blankets to the homeless through their Winter Warmth Drive initiative, a testament to their unwavering dedication to making a difference.

“Our outreach team extended their warmth and compassion to the senior citizen of Danville Aftree-Oord in Pretoria and Ithokomeleng Old Age Home in Alexandra on May 31, where 130 and 120 warm blankets were donated respectively. One senior citizen, wrapped in a warm blanket joyfully remarked that she would fall asleep immediately in her chair. An official at the home conveyed deep gratitude on behalf of the residents and requested the team to return for further assistance,” said Reddy.

When disaster struck in Tongaat, KZN, where a devastating tornado had left many homeless and desolate, the church sprang into action, forming a Tongaat disaster relief team to aid the affected. Engaging companies, private individuals, and schools, they set up collection points in Midrand, receiving an overwhelming response of donations. The last loads of this relief were collected over the weekend of June 8 and 9 at various shopping centres around Midrand.

Reddy said contributions included basic food supplies, clothing, and financial aid, alongside a truckload of metal roof sheets from an associated company.
He said members themselves donated 5 500 litres of milk, 1 100 litres of bottled water and arranged transportation to deliver all donations to Tongaat.

“Amid the emergency disaster relief efforts, the youth at The Well Church demonstrated their commitment to Christ’s teachings by visiting the senior citizens of Pat Rico Community Centre in Kekana Gardens, Hammanskraal. They donated 130 blankets and an additional 42 blankets to Tender Loving Care Old Age Home in the same area. The elders were led in prayer, and the youth took pride in embodying the ways of Jesus Christ by assisting the less fortunate,” added Reddy.

He further stated, “With God, anything is possible. And the church is here for the community, to serve and uplift those in need while spreading the gospel.”
