Celebrating 10 Years of Glen Austin High

Glen Austin High School marked a milestone when it celebrated its 10th anniversary with a day filled with excitement and celebration.

Glen Austin High School celebrated its 10th anniversary on May 18.

The day kicked off with a spirited soccer match between the learners and staff members. It was a closely contested game, but in the end, the learners emerged victorious with a score of 4–2. The win set the tone for the rest of the day’s celebrations.

Principal Hennie du Toit welcomes everyone with a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the school’s success over the past decade. The atmosphere was filled with pride and excitement from both the learners and staff members gathered around the main stage to kick off the festivities.

“The 10th-anniversary celebration was a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and staff. Seeing everyone come together to commemorate this milestone was heartwarming,” Du Toit said.

One of the highlights of the day was the fashion show, where learners showcased their style and creativity. The girls looked stunning in their elegant dresses, while the boys impressed with their stylish attires.

While the judges deliberated on the best-dressed contestants of the fashion show, the talent show took centre stage. Kurtis Kagwata wowed the crowd with his rendition of Drake’s Passion Fruit, showcasing his vocal talents. Rorisang Mkhonto and Kwakhanya Mtshotane also took the stage, mesmerising the audience with their energetic dance performances.

Kurtis Kagwata won the prize for best singer and the best dancers prize went to Rorisang Mkhonto and Kwakhanya Mtshotane. The winner of the male modelling competition was Nhlonipho Moraka, and the girls’ modelling competition was won by Kutloano Motaung.

As the day wore on, DJ Viper kept the music pumping, adding to the festive atmosphere. In addition to the entertainment, there were also activities for everyone to enjoy, including jumping castles and other fun games.

As the event drew to a close participants left with fond memories of the day. The 10th anniversary of Glen Austin High School was truly a testament to the school’s spirit and the strong bonds within the community.
