Waterfall beauty is a finalist of Miss Inspire SA

Models are more than just pretty faces, they can also be powerful agents of change who inspire people to take action and make a difference in the world.

Ntombie Flatela, a 24-year-old beauty pageant contestant from Waterfall, understands this better than most.

She has been named a finalist for the national beauty pageant, Miss Inspire South Africa, due to her outstanding community work during the semis. She considers a successful model to be someone who empowers young people without expecting anything in return and serves their community with a purpose. “A modelling sash means not much to me, but giving back to the less privileged means everything,” she explained.

Flatela started her pageantry career in 2018 and has won numerous accolades, including the reigning Miss Passionate Gauteng Ambassador (Overall Queen title).

Her big modelling dream is Miss Universe, but first, she wants to win the Miss Inspire SA crown, as it will be one of her stepping stones in the beauty modelling industry.

“Being Miss Inspire South Africa would mean that I can stand for girls who have lost their voices in society, being discriminated against for who they are and for their appearance due to society’s double beauty standards.”

During the semi and finalist stages, she gave back to the less privileged by donating clothes and shoes and making Christmas lunch in December.

The University of Johannesburg accounting graduate plans on continuing with her charity drives and hopes to get more help as she goes along.
