Estate residents from Noordwyk to open charges against illegal dumper

Acting regional manager of the Midrand depot Cynthia Mphahlele said their job is to clean up and not report illegal dumping, urging residents to report to authorities.

Residents of a Noordwyk estate will open a case against an alleged illegal dumper.
Speaking on behalf of the Mid Manor HOA Estate on March 8, Noordwyk resident Katlego Morake, said the perpetrator appeared to be a single individual driving a white Toyota Hilux bakkie. The vehicle registration number is known to the paper.

“Since the start of the year, illegal dumping has become a regular occurrence. The illegal dumper has been spotted here two or three times. The most recent sighting was on March 5 in the morning. We have not yet opened a case as we did not have the perpetrator’s details but now that we have, a case will be opened with JMPD,” said Morake.
She added the matter had been reported to Pikitup in October last year but no action had been taken.

Morake believes the dumper seems to be dumping garden refuse in various locations across Noordwyk as there seems to be an increase in these sites.
Acting regional manager of the Midrand Pikitup depot Cynthia Mphahlele said, “Our job includes cleaning all bins and removing illegal dumping across Midrand. We cannot open any case against a person found to be dumping illegally. It is the responsibility of the residents to report such people to the authorities.”
