Rabie Ridge Drum Majorette clubs look for sponsors

Despite Rabie Ridge Drum Majorette's impressive progress, the club still faces a lack of sponsorships.

The Rabie Ridge Drum Majorette Club, founded by Sanet Thindisa, has been empowering young girls since its inception in 2021.

Over the years, the club has grown from 21 girls to 38 who are currently registered with the Gauteng Majorette and Cheerleading Association (GMCA), and many others who are still not registered.

Despite their impressive progress, the club is facing a major obstacle — a lack of sponsorships.

The girls have been performing exceptionally well and qualifying for various competitions, including the South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (SAMCA) National Championships held in Durban and Polokwane.

However, the club continues to struggle with getting to these tournaments and shining due to the lack of sponsorships.

Thindisa expressed her frustration with the situation, stressing that they need sponsorship urgently, as the girls often face financial constraints that keep them from attending competitions.

“Unfortunately, some of the girls have even had to drop out of the club due to their parent’s inability to afford the transport costs,” Thindisa explained.

“This is heartbreaking for me as I often have to dig into my pocket to cover the costs and ensure that the girls do not miss out on these opportunities.

“A sponsor who could cover the costs of transport to competitions would make a huge difference, especially since the team has grown tremendously over the years. In addition to the financial constraints, the team also needs more uniforms, flags, boots, and other accessories as more girls show interest in joining the club.”

As the team prepares for this year’s competitions, including the GMCA colours and the national championships in Cape Town, they have been practising tirelessly week in and week out.

Recently, the team invited Mikaylee Nell, an experienced drum majorette and head sub-leader at St. Dominic’s Senior, to teach the girls some new skills.

Nell has been drumming for the past 10 years and generously volunteered her time to help the girls learn from her experience.

“This is a great opportunity for the team to up their game and perform even better at competitions.”

The Rabie Ridge Drum Majorette Club is determined to succeed and is looking for sponsors who can help them achieve their goals.

The girls are committed to representing their club with pride, and with the right support, they know they can achieve greatness.
