The following are tips that can be followed to stay safe around the pool:
- Always keep the pool clean.q Have secure fencing around the pool.
- Ensure that everyone who wants to swim can swim.
- Keep lifesaving equipment near the pool area.
- Inspect your pool periodically for signs of wear and tear.
- Never allow anyone who has been drinking alcohol to use the pool.
- No running next to the pool to prevent slipping and falling.
- Do not allow any electrical appliances near the pool.
- Ensure that the pool is deep enough. If not, enforce a ‘no diving’ rule.
- Do not jump through inflatable tubes, as you may get stuck and unable to come up for air.
