Aysha (17) from Noordwyk will lead the prefect team with her deputy prefect Tintswalo Mnisi and Thato Rampyapedi respectively.
Minenhle Shelembe will assume the role of prefect secretary. Speaking at the prefect hand-over ceremony in Glen Austin on November 15, Aysha said continuity from the previous prefects committee was going to be imperative.

Aysha, who is a member of the Representative Council of Learners, said she and her team will work diligently to ensure that they lead by example to uphold the values of the school.
“Many of you may ask yourselves, why we are accepting the responsibility to lead, this more than that. It’s a gift to motivate and lead by example, something that we will do with honour, pride, sacrifice and commitment,” said Aysha.

She hopes that when her peers see her or any of her committee members, they will feel more motivated and inspired. “As your head prefect, I vow to lead in the best way possible. Thank you for believing in me and your faith will never go in vain.”

She said outgoing head prefect, Busisiwe Phoswa taught her to lead with integrity and give 100% in whatever they are doing. Phoswa (18) also wished Aysha everything of the best in the new journey, saying it is not easy.

“The adventure they are about to take requires a lot of introspection and they need to stop doing certain things. They need to ask themselves what makes them worthy of being in those positions, but I believe there was no one more deserving of the position than Aysha,” said Phoswa.
