Midrand Run/Walk For Life branch geared for stellar fitness work in the community

Midrand Run/Walk For Life started with just seven athletes in April and has now grown to 60 members in just seven months.

Run/Walk For Life (RWLF) Midrand branch manager Kerryne Krause is pleased with the growth of the club since its establishment earlier this year.

Krause, who also serves as a coach, is a triathlete and passionate about sports. She used to attend the Beaulieu branch which was the closest one at that point and due to her passion for the brand and club was assisting the branch manager. This led her to meet Matthew Grossett CEO of RWFL, who knew that her passion would make her the ideal candidate to open the Midrand branch.

Krause said Grossett had been wanting a branch in the central Midrand area to serve the community for a few years now.
“Within six months of our launch in April this year, we competed in the company’s annual relay challenge and came third out of over 70 clubs. We launched with seven athletes and have grown to 60 members in just seven months. What is most astounding is the individual results of the members and testimonials from weight loss and decreased blood pressure to fitness personal bests and decreased mental illnesses, such as anxiety, depression and loneliness,” said Krause.

Krause, a resident in Glen Austin for the past 20 years, said one of their members was due for a heart operation and got permission from her doctor to try and rectify her condition by changing her lifestyle. She joined the club and within a few months had started to reverse her condition and had no more need for the operation. More testimonials are below.

“She completed her first Comrades Marathon this year at the age of 50, in under 10 hours. Her passion for people, sports and business has culminated in the development of a successful branch within the franchise in a short time.

The club provides its members with scientifically proven programmes and guidance to help them reach their fitness and health goals.

They hold three sessions per week at Christ Church School in Noordwyk, which includes personal coaching, safety and nutrition coaching.

Patricia Nementzik said, “Run/Walk For Life has given me my life back. Although I have been a consistent walker, it was more on a casual basis. I love the structure and the quality training that we receive. I have a zest for life again and have an amazing extended family of friends that I didn’t have when mostly walking alone. I have also managed to shed 25kg”.
