Jo Burrows has been re-elected as sector 1 crime forum chairperson

Halfway House, Glen Austin and Glen Austin AH are some of the sector 1 suburbs affected by crime activities.

Jonathan Burrows, popularly known as Jo in his community has been re-elected-unopposed- as the sector 1 crime forum chairperson.

Sector 1 includes areas such as Glen Austin, Glen Austin AH, Randjesfontein, Grand Central, and a portion of Halfway House.

This comes as the Midrand CPF hosts a series of elections for their crime forums.

At the elections on October 21, held in Glen Austin’s Midrand Chapel on Pitzer Road, the sector was also allocated a new sector manager, Constable Terrance Katleho Mohau Mosia. He takes over from Warrant Officer Khomotso Mokhwelepa, whose appointment was announced on March 11 by Burrows.

Burrows will be assisted by Tracy Busson as the deputy chairperson, while Mohammed Gaffoor was elected as the secretary and Sisanda Jalavu as Gaffor’s deputy.
Kgomotso Matsetse will become the sector’s public relations officer while Francisco Panaino was elected as patrol coordinator.

Burrows said the goal remains to fight crime in the area because they still do face crime.
“Now that I have been re-elected for another five-year term, the biggest goal is to fight crime and ensure that there is continuity. Crime is a challenge, but I believe if we all work together – residents, patrollers, and the CPF executive – then we stand a good chance to win this battle,” said Burrows.
He added that they needed to send a strong message to the criminals and show them that they mean business.

Warrant Officer Mokhwelepa also read out the crime statistics for the sector, which the media is not allowed to publish. However, K101 Old Pretoria and Pretoria Main roads emerged as notorious roads with high crime activities while Halfway House, Glen Austin and Glen Austin AH were the targeted suburbs in the sector.
Other small roads that showed an increase in crime included Pitzer. Alsation and Boshoff roads.
