Proud South Africans celebrate National Heritage Day at Castle Kyalami

Besides the traditional songs and dances, the Castle Kyalami Heritage Day celebration was also filled with African markets and even a sermon on religious unity.

Over 200 attendees including local officials, religious and community leaders, and journalists gathered at Castle Kyalami, also known as the Church of Scientology in Midrand, to celebrate Heritage Day.

The event was filled with singing, culture dancers, braai, and more to mark the anniversary of the cultural wealth found all over South Africa.

South Africans celebrate the day on September 24 by remembering the cultural heritage of the many cultures that make up the population of SA, and various events are staged throughout the country to commemorate this day.

According to Sandile Hlayisi, spokesperson for Castle Kyalami, it was a beautiful day as the attendees thanked the unity that exists at the Castle and their ability to bring everyone together.

He said one of the many guests at the event expressed his appreciation for places such as Castle Kyalami, where people can come together and celebrate as one.

“This is one of those days where you really appreciate being South African,” said Hlayisi. “The whole community gathered to celebrate and embrace each other’s heritage. We hosted this event to promote further unity and tolerance among the nation.”

Castle Kyalami, located atop the highest point in Midrand, hosts weekly celebrations and events that include skills development workshops, drug awareness education, community celebrations, charity galas, national holiday celebrations, and more.
