Dineo Mojela shares her pageant journey and the challenges she experienced

Dineo Mojela joined beauty pageants in 2015 and now has the titles of Miss Beauty with Purpose, queen, ambassador, and first Princess.

In the realm of pageantry, Dineo Mojela stands as a beacon of empowerment and resilience. Her journey started in 2015, while still in primary school, when a local event offered her the chance to participate in various activities.

With an innate flair for modelling, Mojela’s joined the runway on the spur of the moment, astonishing everyone by effortlessly owning the stage without prior preparation. This serendipitous decision marked the inception of a transformative odyssey that continues to shape her life.

While Mojela’s journey has been adorned with triumphs, it hasn’t been without its share of challenges. She said, “I always work on fighting the nerves, rehearsing, having control on stage and most importantly keeping my smile and eye contact with the audiences and judges.”

Guided by the wisdom of her role model, her granny, she has learned to navigate life’s tumultuous terrain. “No matter how high the mountain you are fighting, if you are able to look at it, eventually you’ll overcome it.” This philosophy has fortified her spirit, equipping her to overcome obstacles, both on and off the runway.

Her involvement in pageantry has transcended mere competition; it’s a vehicle of empowerment and self-discovery. Choosing to stand before audiences adorned in gowns and revealing clothing, she embraced the challenge as a way to explore her capabilities. She asserts, “Modelling shapes one’s life, growing and learning about responsibility and accountability.” This journey has kindled her personal growth, honing skills beyond the runway.

She recognises the power of community involvement and social impact in pageantry. With fervour, she envisions local modelling agencies in areas where youth exhibit a passion for the craft. “The positivity is to make one’s future bright and bring more talent to have a strong, up-and-running youth.”

Mojela’s participation in Miss Bochum, Miss Goddess, Miss Blouberg Youth Empowerment, and Miss Maleboho has garnered titles that underscore her purpose-driven approach. Her triumphs include the titles of Miss Beauty with Purpose, queen, ambassador, and first princess.

Looking to the future, she remains grounded in her commitment to inspire and uplift. “To be relevant, plan to adapt what’s in modelling or even encourage more creative ideas for the future.”
