Community members spent their day planting trees at local children’s home

Tree-planting campaign to help absorb significant quantities of carbon dioxide from the air at a local children's home.

LTM Energy Group, together with Alliances Energy and Grenex joined hands in a heartwarming initiative of planting speekboom trees at Yenzani Children’s Home.

The group and the home have fostered a long-standing relationship over many years, and they have interacted on numerous social occasions. LTM Energy staff recently visited Yenzani to plant some trees. A wonderful morning was enjoyed by all, with the staff and children engaging in a cordial environment, while adding beauty to the surroundings.

The plant of choice was the spekboom (which speaks to the ethos of LTM Energy’s mission). This indigenous plant is renowned for its unique capability of absorbing carbon monoxide, thus contributing to air purification. It mitigates the adverse effects of climate change, caused by excess carbon in the atmosphere.

LTM Energy team members said they are grateful to be part of the planting seeds campaign.

According to Jayshree Pillay, Yenzani has a large expanse of their ground that is incapable of growing plants. Spekboom adapts to many ground conditions and requires very little or no water, making it suitable.

The afternoon ended with the children showing their skills on the trampoline, with LTM Energy staff trying to hilariously follow suit. LTM team thanked Sanne Mirk and the amazing staff for warmly welcoming them and for the opportunity to follow their passion for assisting the community while practising the company’s mission.
