2023 exhibition to help improve safety and security

The exhibition dates for 2024 have already been announced. May 28-30 at the Gallagher Convention Centre.

Securex held three days of safety management exhibitions at the Gallagher Conventional Centre. This was to educate business owners on how to improve safety in their workplace to ensure that their workers are safe at all times.

The exhibition took place from June 6 to June 8 in Midrand.

Different safety management companies came to raise awareness about safety in different workplaces including construction, engineering and retail companies.

As one of the leading companies K9 Law Enforcement had a demonstration on how dogs search luggage coming and going from South Africa at the OR Tambo International Airport. Dogs are trained to be part of the search team in airports and help the rescue teams in cases where authorities can’t do it by themselves.

A wide range of security products such as CCTV, mobile surveillance, face recognition scanners, and fingerprint scanners were introduced to also help businesses strengthen their security measures.

Khatani Muvhango and Abel Nkosi from Alberton said their employer organised a trip for them to learn more about safety measures.

Ring Alarm was launched, and it offers a smartphone security system that is accessible everywhere where there is a network connection. Ring Alarm have doorbell elite, video doorbell, and indoor cameras where one can recognise whoever is at your doorstep. Ring Alarm takes up to two hours to be fully charged and lasts up to three months depending on the motion.

Kenai introduced a sensor camera that works with batteries, as it is accessible on mobile devices. Employers have the privilege to scan their employees onsite and at home.

Other security measures launched an upgrade on the existing measures such as electronic fencing, Starfix Security Centres export manager, Ricardo Pacheco said the upgrade includes the fence being active even during load-shedding.

Ntuli Ntombikayise believes the exhibition was educational as it helps every field to improve their security, “A lot has been learnt today, and I believe I will surely attend next year to see more features.”
