Kofi Asiamah raised R10 000 for the learners of Nokuphila School

Asiamah hopes to complete a HaIf Ironman Marathon and run the remaining five major world marathons over the coming years.

Kofi Asiamah (32) is a South African of Ghanaian heritage. He grew up in a small village, Makapanstad, in the North West where his parents first settled when they arrived in South Africa. He has a strong love for running and cycling.

Asiamah participated in the 2023 London Marathon and used the opportunity to raise funds for Nokuphila School in Midrand. He donated R10 000 to the school to help shape the future of young children.

He got to hear about Nokuphila School through a conversation that happened to be within earshot, and each conversation he heard from there proved to him that the school is worth supporting.

The approach Nokuphila takes towards supporting the children of Midrand made him want to be part of the support. Also, remembering how his friends would regularly mention that the school meal programme was the only means they would have in a day made him want to make a difference.

“Seeing how I experienced lessons in the classroom compared to them and realising how that disadvantage kept compounding over our school years has always stuck with me,” Asiamah said.

He said institutions that focus on consistent, predictable support that creates genuine change in the community are worth appreciating.

Nokuphila School took it to Facebook to acknowledge Asiamah’s effort. “We are so grateful for the generous effort and donation. Congratulations on your achievement.”

In conclusion, he said he would encourage people to come through to their open days to see the great work they do for the kids.
