Total Football Excellence’s U19 unbeaten streak continues after six games

Waterfall City-based Total Football Excellence has kept its unbeaten run intact after six games of action.

This is part of a quest to get a promotion to the South African Football Association’s Regional League, ABC Motsepe League, previously known as SAB League.

The teams play in the NS Men’s Premier League and it is their maiden season in the league.
They have played six games so far where they won five and drew one and are placed second on the log standings.

Coach Steve ‘Skapa’ Matlou said the team started well and scored five goals in the first two games of the league.
Matlou said in the fourth round of fixtures, they had an opportunity to go four out of four, but they ended up drawing the game.
“In the drawn match, my team played very well but failed to score goals as we had lots of opportunities. In fact, in the last minutes of that game, we missed four clear chances to give us a win, but that’s how football is,” said Matlou.

The experienced Matlou said they have a good team at their disposal to work with and one of the most talented players.
He has been at the helm of Bidvest Wits and the University of Pretoria (AmaTuks) in Varsity Football and believes the players now understand where the team is moving.

“It’s very simple as they all understand my vision now. We started very slow to understand each other but here we go. The good thing about this team and its formation is that there were trials before the start of the season. And that’s where we managed to get about two or three good players and now we have a strong winning team,” he added.

He said starting with the team early gives him an edge in winning the league which will be combined with his experience from Wits and AmaTuks because ABC league is important to them.

Matlou’s mandate is to win the league this season and help the team gain promotion.
