Successful women in law enforcement seminar held at Gallagher

Attendees included members of the South African Police Service, Home Affairs, Traffic Department, and Correctional Services to name a few.

Embracing total transformation, transparency, equity, and mentorship is a priority in law enforcement agencies.

This was evident when the 15th Annual Women Leadership Development for women in law enforcement agencies seminar was held at the Gallagher Convention Centre on May 26.

SA Army senior staff officer transformation management Colonel Lydia-Dipuo Raadt delivered a presentation to her colleagues within the law enforcement fraternity.

She spoke about embracing the journey and looking at how far women in law enforcement have come and her hope for a brighter future.

Raadt also indicated how the SA Army is gradually changing from a patriarchal to a matriarchal organisation.

“Transformation extends beyond gender, race, and disability. Therefore, all women must be trailblazers and advocates for gender-balanced leadership,” said Raadt.

“Empowerment must not be for members who are in leadership positions but also the junior ranks. Women leaders must mentor and coach other women, ‘she for she’.”
