Local NPO asks for donations to restore hope amongst those in need

Community members are requested to assist with as little as R20 to help disabled kids.

Rise and Shine disability empowerment organisation in Glen Austin needs funds.

Rise and Shine was established in March 2022, to uplift young disabled children.

Founder of the organisation, Precious Ngoakoana Mphago says she started the organisation from her pocket to help disabled children.

“I started this to give hope to kids with special needs, I don’t want them to feel unwanted when they don’t have basic needs.”

“We are here for them. I want them to focus on their studies without worrying about sanitary pads and other needs,” Mphago added.

Unfortunately, the organisation has run out of funds, and they struggling to keep up with the needs of the children.

Rise and Shine is pleading with the community to help them raise funds to assist with wheelchairs, crutches, proper school uniforms, sanitary pads, pampers, and any other basic needs.

While the process of applying for funds in government takes a long time, Mphago says, “The children should not suffer while we wait for funds to be released. We can assist from our pockets with as little as R20.”

Mphago believes R20 can make a huge difference in the community.

Donations don’t have to be money but anything that can make a difference is allowed.
