Waterfall students learn about work world

More than 100 students interacted and networked with 18 different companies and potential employers on campus during the expo.

The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall recently hosted a work expo for its students.

More than 100 students interacted and networked with 18 different companies and potential employers on campus during the expo.

Students were also informed about graduate programmes and scholarships available at some companies.

Companies present included Signa Group, Geeks4Learning, K Public Relations, PPM Attorneys, Training Force, Risk Insight, AB InBev, Momentum, Rectron, Nexia-SABT, OLICO Maths Education, VAT IT, and OVC Work Study Travel to name a few.

The expo took place on April 18 and was coordinated by the campus career centre coordinator, Nomcebo Langa, and the centre’s committee.

Third-year Bachelor of Commerce in law student Leandro Demas said the expo was an enjoyable experience for the students.

“Specifically, because I spoke to several companies that provided so much insight,” said Demas.

“One company that really stood out was VAT IT because of its young and dynamic corporate culture. OVC Work Study Travel grabbed my attention as well because I have always been interested in furthering my studies and working overseas. I learned a lot about the importance of acquiring some of the skills necessary in the working world while studying.”
