Lions Club of Midrand donates 60 school shoes to New Jerusalem Children’s Home

The home is still in need of clothes, socks, sport and school supplies, to name a few.

Lions Club of Midrand donated 60 pairs of school shoes to the New Jerusalem Children’s Home on April 13.

Yolandi van der Schyf said the organisation decided to collect old and slightly used shoes for the children living at the home.

Lions Club of Midrand representatives Cliff Hocking and Yolandi van der Schyf.

“They have approximately 120 children aged from one to 18 years. They receive a grant from the government for 80 children, so are always in need of help,” said Van der Schyf.

“We decided on shoes, since this is something people sometimes forget when they donate. However, they are in need of clothes, socks, sport and school supplies. Nothing is unwelcome.”

The Lions Club received the generous donation from SuperSPAR Polofields – 60 pairs of Bata school shoes and a couple of boxes of Easter eggs.

The founder and managing director of the children’s home, Anna Mojapelo, thanked the Lions Club of Midrand, as well as everyone in the community for their continued support of the home.
