Community market offers open stalls with affordable membership for entrepreneurs

Glen Austin Market moves to new location due to business rights

After moving from 118 Allan Road, the Glen Austin community market has been struggling to fill stalls at their new location in Glen Austin Village.

Mathijs Brak, the owner of the market said after struggling since last July to recruit vendors, they are pleased to have new members.

“The municipality closed it down because there were no business rights, and they were too expensive to apply for.”

With a variety of food stalls and an affordable pub and grill on the premises, residents can make a day out of it.

Stall fees are affordable, membership cost R50 for vendors who want to own permanent stalls, while R100 is charged for vendors who are at the market for one day.
