President Park-based Miriam Makeba Centre donates school shoes in Alex

"Your generosity is helping us make a difference to people in our community of Alexandra township and around the country."

The Miriam Makeba Centre for Girls together with the Miriam Makeba Foundation donated school shoes to the Alexandra-based biker’s club, Assault Ryderz.

The club is hosting a back-to-school drive and they are looking for any school items, in good condition, that can be donated.
Centre’s deputy chairperson Tumi Madito an avid biker and the person who was heading the drive said they donated 15 pairs of school shoes in late February.

30 pairs went to a Tembisa school and another 30 to a Soweto-based biking club.

“We will be moving from shoes to blankets for the upcoming winter season. We have not yet identified our intended recipients, but we would like to urge those that can donate to start doing so by visiting the centre or the foundation,” said Madito.
