BOB MAREDI: I think more police need to be employed in South Africa and be deployed in various towns such as Midrand. Another thing is that Midrand is also an economic hub for many young people and elites who are mostly victims of crime. A businessman from Glen Austin was abducted and killed in Olifantsfontein in December last year. That shows how rife crime is in Midrand.

YVETTE PAGE: Crime in Midrand is at its worst. Here in President Park, we struggle with cable theft and I am sure other suburbs have their crime challenges. The nine-year-old boy killed at the Mosque is a sign that as a community we are not safe.REFILOE MTHEMBU: I think around Midrand, we need more than just one police station to fight and combat crime, to be honest. Midrand is a fast-growing town and criminals take advantage of that. I think the magnitude of our area is too big to be serviced by just one police station. It seems the police are also struggling to deal with it in my opinion.LUCHEN VOLMINK: I think crime is everywhere and not just in Midrand only. Yes, Midrand seems to be under siege from the criminals and the police also seem to be battling. For example, if you turn on your radio, or TV or read the newspaper, the crime stories are just too much to bear. I think more police officials need to be deployed and more police visibility might help.
