Midrand NPO Connect to Feed takes Village Safe Haven for a breakfast in Kyalami

The Village Safe Haven principal mother, Susan Harries said their aim was to reintroduce children back into society as “young adults of excellence."

It was an atmosphere filled with happiness as about 20 children of the Village Safe Haven orphanage were treated to breakfast at Dros in Kyalami.

The children were accompanied by Michael and Susan Harris who run the orphanage with volunteers.
Midrand-based NPO Connect to Feed arranged the breakfast for the Buccleuch orphanage and the organisation’s founder Upama Srivastsava said their first drive of the year was special. “The Connect to Feed team tried to make their day special and this was a good start to the new year. We are doing our analysis to find out where we can go next and help. We are looking for orphanages or old age homes which need help,” said Srivastava.

“We are very pleased, satisfied and overwhelmed after seeing all the happy faces. Our plan for this year is to spread more happiness and help various institutions that might need our help going forward.”

Susan thanked the organisation and said the children enjoyed themselves especially as they could choose their favourite breakfast for the first time.
“We believe every child should be given an equal chance in life. This encompasses proper education, clothing and a balanced diet, to name but a few of the vital needs for children to grow into well-adjusted and balanced adults. Through the joint provision of our donors and volunteers, we strive to offer our children the best,” said Susan.

She concluded that they aimed to reintroduce children back into society as ‘young adults of excellence’.
