Noordwyk Primary School’s academic year that was in 2022

Following the suspension of Covid-19 regulations, Noordwyk Primary School will offer learners an opportunity to participate in various sporting codes in 2023.

Acting principal of Noordwyk Primary School, Clayton Paul believes the 2022 academic year was tough, challenging yet rewarding for those who have a passion for teaching young learners.

He said the school held various fundraising events such as Buy-a-Brick. Paul said parents and learners had to buy as many bricks as they would like or can.

“It was a huge success. The money was used to pave water-logged areas around some of our classrooms. Varsity College provided our learners with snack packs as a token of their appreciation for hosting their student teachers at our school. The college also extended their appreciation by donating a water tank to our school which will be used to supplement any water shortages as a result of maintenance or during times of water restrictions,” said Paul.

He said some of his highlight of him this year includes their Grade 7 learners hosting a professional career day.
Paul said the learners dressed in the attire associated with the career of their choice.

“Expectations for 2023, we have registered our school with the FIFA youth development initiative. This will see our girls and boys given an opportunity to move through the different phases of the talent identification programme. As we play against various schools within this programme, the winners will progress further into different stages. Hopefully, some of our learners will be allowed the opportunity to represent South Africa on the world stage in no time to come.”

He said teachers will not be left out, as they will also be offered educators training and development workshops.
Paul concluded that the workshops are aimed at helping them with correcting negative classroom behaviour.
