Police promote awareness

Warrant Officer Rama Trevor of the Sandton Police Station visits Woodmead Retail Park with his team to promote the awareness campaign of 16 Days of Activism.

Part of the Social Crime Prevention campaign has always been linked with public engagement and the sharing of important safety tips.

Sandton police officers made time to discuss those important details including the 16 Days of Activism campaign with Woodmead Retail Park shoppers.
With the help of the CPF Sector 1 chairperson, Ragani Govender, and a representative from Agisanang Domestic Abuse Prevention and Training (Adapt), Dineo Motlober, officers successfully distributed pamphlets to the public on November 30.

Warrant Officer Rama Trevor said, “It was a good operation because we managed to share the awareness with our people. We are mostly targeting areas where we are experiencing the most GBV cases, especially with the festive season approaching, we have to make sure that we play our part by informing people about it.
“Everyone is affected whether you are young, old, rich or poor, we are all affected by this social issue.”

Govender briefly shared her experience. “A lot of people were very curious as to why we are here and then when we handed them the pamphlets, they were interested in knowing more.

“The majority asked if they could report this to the officials. To their surprise Warrant Officer Rama informed them that there is a special unit mainly focused
on crime.”
