Leaking Yenzani Children’s Home in Noordwyk refurbished

Yenzani Chidlren's Home was founded in September 2002 and this year, they celebrated their 20th anniversary.

Christmas came early for the young children of Yenzani Children’s Home in Noordwyk after their house underwent major renovations.

The house, founded in 2002, which accommodates 14 children from the age of four to 18, was refurbished earlier this year by Reatile Foundation Trust.

Eagles Property Solutions was contracted to carry out the maintenance and renovated the leaking roof, repainted the house, and fixed a kitchen unit among others.

The project coordinator at Yenzani, Vanessa Hale said the children come to them through the court system. She said they were happy to see how their home was turned into a warm house compared to what it was before and thanked the foundation for their much-needed assistance.

“We have kept it at 14 children so that financially we can give them as much quality as possible when it comes to all their needs. This also helps us do the best for the children and we want to give them the best education. As such, we have tutors who come in to assist so that they can make something out of themselves,” said Hale.

The children were ecstatic to welcome the foundation’s staff members and chairperson Simphiwe Mehlomakulu on November 25. “As the foundation, we do needs-analysis assessments for various homes around South Africa, but mostly Gauteng and Yenzani was selected as our beneficiary. They had issues with ceilings that had mould from leaking roofs, and we are happy to have provided a helping hand.,” said Mehlomakulu.
