In the build-up to the race, a number of Train Joburg races were organised and classes and sessions were held in many Virgin Active gyms, assisted members and non-members with training programmes to get them ready for the cycle challenge throughout the city.
There was also assistance offered in nutrition for the cyclists from professionals in preparation for the race.

With Virgin Active coming on board as a title sponsor for the first time, managing director Jessica Spira was pleased with the turnout of the race from all riders involved
“Us getting involved with the race is really on point for us as a brand. We recognised that people are looking for different platforms to exercise whether it is in their house, in the gym, or on the road,” she said.
