Reddam House Waterfall’s 10th birthday carnival raises money for charities

Reddam House Waterfall executive head, Quinton Pascoe says the school will continue building relationship and help the two charities where they can to try keep them financially afloat.

Two charities, CHOC and SOS Children’s Villages each received a whopping R250 000 from Reddam House Waterfall.

The principal of the Early Learning School Dr Bev Evangelides and executive head Quinton Pascoe presented the charities with two cheques at a ceremony held in the school’s auditorium on October 4.

Pascoe said the act of giving back aligned with the school’s motto, We shall give back, and reminded all learners of the importance of contributing to the community.

“The money donated was raised from Reddam House Waterfall’s 10th birthday carnival which was held on September 3. I applaud the school community for giving so generously to the two charities. We are beaming with pride and we have reached our objective and shown our true DNA of giving back,” said Pascoe.

The regional development coordinator of CHOC Lizelle Denkema said the money would be used for their Diepkloof and Saxonwold homes. “Many of our children come from far away rural areas. CHOC offers accommodation to the children and their parents. Our homes away from homes are situated close to the paediatric oncology wards. In Gauteng south, we have a house in Saxonwold which can accommodate nine children and caregivers. We have two houses in Diepkloof that accommodate 10 children and 10 caregivers,” said Denkema.

National director of SOS Children’s Village Patrick Kulati said, “I feel so great, especially on behalf of the children and young people that we look after. We look after 5 500 young children and the cheque will go a long way in providing for food, medical and basic needs.”

The school’s 10th birthday carnival catered for the whole family to have a fun day out, with more than 4 000 people in attendance.
