Rand Symphony Orchestra opens applications for 2023 Youth concert
Piano concerti are advised to not be accompanied, As there is only one piano available at the audition venue.
The Rand Symphony Orchestra invites applications from music students to audition for the annual Youth Concert to be held on, 11 June 2023.
According to Rand Symphony Orchestra candidates should be of the highest standard (not lower than Grade 6) and currently attending school; or an undergraduate music student at university (age limit 21). An audition fee of R250.00 will be payable at the audition on Saturday 4 March 2023 at Domus Dei Church, Jean Road, Blairgowrie, times to be advised. Assistance in payment of the audition fee will be considered for those with financial difficulties. Applicants and their teachers will be advised of the results of their audition by March 6.
Candidates are urged to supply their own accompanist for the audition and can expect auditions of longer works to be curtailed at 8 minutes, to allow adequate time for all applicants.
“Successful candidates will be expected to attend at least three Tuesday evening rehearsals prior to the concert, the general rehearsal (date to be confirmed) before the concert, and the performance,” added Rand Symphony Orchestra
Each candidate selected to perform will be presented with a certificate at the end of the performance.

Closing dates for application: February 20, 2023
Date of auditions: Saturday, March 4, 2023 at a time to be decided.
